Meet Stefan Beckman. He’s a New York City-based set and production designer and the founder of Lateral Objects. Known for some of New York Fashion Week’s most vibrant and eye-catching shows and a long-time collaborator of Marc Jacobs, Stefan has also been the creative eye behind editorials, ad campaigns and films with brands including Prada, Fendi, Balenciaga and Vuitton. Lateral Objects, founded a year ago, is a design lab focusing on creating unique home products across a range of mediums. Bold color-saturated hues — which have become a signature — awash his well-considered products that include beach towels, drinking glasses, coasters, trays and tote bags. These are truly objects of desire, and we want them all! Oh, and if you’re lucky you might catch him at his Bellport, NY pop up shop this summer. Started my design business nearly 25 yrs. ago. I launched Lateral Objects exactly a year ago!

Why do you do what you do?

I want to learn + grow. Do things I have never done before. New Experiences. Things that will inspire + foster creativity.
