Meet Klancy. The award-winning founder of For The Culture: A Magazine Celebrating Black Women and Femmes in Food and Wine is on everyone’s mind with her hotly-anticipated upcoming book of the same name. Klancy dishes out a feast of stories, flavors and lives from the amazing world of Black Women and Femmes in the food space. And my, what a life she has led! From Columbia University to working on international development in French Polynesia, to Le Cordon Bleu Paris and contributing to numerous publications while writing her previous book, Cooking Solo, she can do it all! I am Klancy Miller, a writer, pastry chef, and author of the upcoming book For the Culture: Phenomenal Black Women and Femmes in Food.

What’s on your mind?

My book! And the last days of summer.

Maman on Centre Street in Manhattan

Who are your heroes?


My Mom and Dad. Everyone in my book, For the Culture. People who work to end all forms of inequality. People seeking solutions to global warming.

Why do you do what you do?

I love food and people so I like to write about food and people. Writing has been something I do for a long time and I can't imagine not writing.

What’s your favorite thing to cook?


Risotto. I also love making cookies & cakes.

What’s your favorite thing to eat?

An excellent huge salad. Also almost any kind of dessert.
