WILSON TANG

CEO of NOM WAH

July 2020

Meet Wilson Tang. He’s the CEO of Nom Wah, New York City’s oldest operating dim sum parlor. The original Chinatown location has a cult following— sure the vintage 1920’s décor is deco diner perfection— but it’s the classic and delicious bites that draw the hungry crowds. Wilson’s a man on the go with lots going on, so let’s catch up with him!

Who are you?

Wilson Tang
CEO of Nom Wah

What’s on your mind?

A lot…post covid initiatives at Nom Wah, what to do with the kids this summer, cookbook launch, consumer packaged goods for Nom Wah, how to be a better boss, how to motivate and inspire people I work with.

Where are you right now?

In my office. Not air conditioned on a hot summer day.

When did you start?

Summer 2010

Why do you do what you do?

I love people. Hospitality and Marketing is in my DNA. And what an honor...the current custodian of one of the oldest restaurants in the neighborhood I love.

Wise words:

I take a page from Richard Branson's page (founder of Virgin Hotels)...

"Train people well enough so that they can leave, treat them well enough so that they don’t want to."
